The other morning I was making biscuits and gravy and completely messed the gravy up. It is such an easy thing to cook I thought "how could I have messed this up". What was your dinner disaster?

Sorry to hear about your gravy!! I was making cornbread once and totally forgot how long it took for it to bake. By the time I realized it had been in too long, I took it out. Loads of smoke poured out of the oven door and the bread was as black as tar. I also set off the smoke detector.

Well, one day I was making cereal and I ate it. That was horrible because I forgot that I hate cereal.

I was making hollandaise sauce for poached eggs on Mother's Day, my daughter was playing the soccer game we DVR'd the day before & I forgot I had the sauce pan on high. Oops, burnt tasting hollandaise sauce and I ruined the pan! Double whammy!

Well, I can't top all those others with a personal experience, but I had an invite where one occurred. I was invited to Christmas dinner and the invitee was a recent separated lady with a young child. I arrived at her apartment in a cab and sat to await dinner trying to entertain the little boy. The young lady said she had taken the turkey from the freezer about 3 hours ago and put it in the oven an hour ago and dinner should be ready soon. I already knew what was going to happen and there was just no way to prevent it.I have always watched my mom cook and appreciate how complicated Christmas dinner can be. I was as gentle as could be and explained the situation to the lady. We, threw the turkey in the trash bin.Called a cab and we all went to out to dinner. That was about 40 years ago.thanks
