Hummus is the best on a pita with falafel, green peppers, onions, and lettuce. It's really good in wraps and pitas and sandwiches. And pita + tabouli (tabouleh) = yum. I like hummus with cornchips, too. But, some people just eat hummus just like that with nothing. Now that's gross.

I have been eating Hummus dip for years first made by a close friend from overseas may I add it tasted very good. I make it at home at time which tastes much better than store bought. You can bring a horse .......

depends on the hummus. I have had some grocery store stuff that was vile. Bland, no flavor, like brown paste. Now I have also had the hummus made at a little place down the street and it is hands down the best stuff I have ever eaten. It is chock full of garlic and pepper and fresh parsley and lemon juice and is very flavorfull and not pasty but has some texture.

I am a very picky eater and couldn't stand the idea of it, but my wife picked up some dill-flavored hummus at the grocery store and forced me to try it on a pita chip- it was really tasty, owing mostly to the strong dill flavor and sea salt on the pit chip, but every so often I will reach for the hummus as a snack, as long as it's a flavored variety- the roasted red pepper is good too.

I don't like it at all.

It depends.....hummus can be very good or not so good, depending on the ingredients and what it's accompanying. I like it a lot, but I have had some very bad hummus.
by Skeptica... 2012-02-27 09:58:09
I haven't had it yet....there was always something next to it that looked better..or rather more edible...and I was not dropping duckets on questionable paste and pita bread.

Yes, I love hummus too, however, I am very critical of how it is made. The mix of ingredients has to be perfect, or I am just aggravated by the dish. Also, the dipping bread (Pita) has to be freshly baked and preferably warm to appreciate the savor of hummus. Hummus (chick peas, sesame seed paste, garlic, lemon juice) is very healthy food. *I do not like buba ganoush, though - eggplant dip. It always has a burnt taste to it regardless of how it is made.

It depends--plain hummus is not so good. BUT, spicy hummus, with crushed red pepper, is totally D-lish. Find a flavor that suits you and add it to the hummus. It will then be tasty and nutritious which is a great combination!

Hummus is like re-fried beans in Mexico. Hummus is made with chickpeas, and Re-fried beans are either Pinto beans or black beans. All these items are great to make a healthy sandwich, if you are on diet. Choose crunchy whole grain bread, yogurt cheese as a spread, sliced tomatoes and dark green lettuce. This gives you protein and carbohydrates at no minimum cholesterol and saturated fats. After the holiday season, this might just be good for you.

I would take a piece of celery with cream cheese over Hummus any day. It's over rated and down right disgusting when the consistency is too liquid.
