Yes, but I think she was lying about being a vegetarian. It's very possible, just not often seen.
by smedrik 2012-02-03 12:27:30
It is probably pretty rare, because most vegetarians are concerned about their health.

People gain weight when they eat more calories than they burn. Period. You can eat too much of even healthy foods. This is a very basic concept. And vegetarian is not synonymous with healthy when it comes to specific foods. Ice cream and potato chips are vegetarian, but they're fat-laden and unhealthy. And yes i have seen fat vegetarians

Any diet can make you fat if you don;t; eat the right stuff.
by Starfish 2012-02-01 22:27:27
Sure. Just because a food is vegetarian doesn't mean it's healthy (soda pop is vegetarian, after all) and it's possible to eat too much of healthy foods too.

Yes, why wouldn't there be fat vegetarians? I mean, sure, many people get more concerned about what they're eating when they go vegetarian (probably because they start reading about nutrition), but you can be both underweight, overweight or just normal as a vegetarian.

Yes. I went to a garden party that had mostly Vegetarians as guests, and many of them were overweight to morbidly obese. The ratio seemed the same from meat-eater to non-meat-eater in that scenario.
