We looked at different costumes for a day and it was $50 with a deposit. If you want to rent the costume and somebody to wear it the price doubled. I suppose if you throw in face painting, too you would want to tack on another $50. Here is a suggestion:Buy a face painting kit. Target sells one online for like $20-$30 and it comes with designs. I'd go with either a clown or character. You can rent it and have somebody you know dress up in it. You can buy a CD that goes with the theme. Or, you can buy a costume off of ebay or somewhere, plan to use it multiple times, and you get to keep it or you can rent it out or sell it when done with it. We bought an elmo costume off of ebay for $200 and bought an elmo CD. We plan on using it 3 years. We bought fake tattoos instead of the face painting and that was about $10 off of ebay and the kids got more than one. The good part about buying it is you are not on any time restrictions and can always sell it eventually.
