Is half-caffeinated coffee enhanced with any additives?

I've noticed that half-caffeine coffee makes me NUTS while regular coffee has a very small effect on my energy level. I know that "no sugar added" things are enhanced with things like Splenda and that "reduced sodium" products are treated with things like potassium chlorate that taste like salt and that sometimes these replacements pack more of a punch than the original ingredient. Is this the case with half-caffeine coffee? What exactly's in this stuff?

Make your own informed decisions. Various methods can be used to decaffeinate coffee. The process is usually performed on unroasted (green) beans, and starts with steaming of the beans. They are then rinsed with a solvent, usually benzine that contains as much of the chemical composition of coffee as possible without also containing the caffeine in a soluble form. The process is repeated anywhere from 8 to 12 times until it meets either the international standard of having removed 97% of the caffeine in the beans or the EU standard of having the beans 99.9% caffeine-free by mass. Coffee contains over 400 chemicals important to the taste and aroma of the final drink; it is, therefore, challenging to remove only caffeine while leaving the other chemicals at their original concentrationshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decaffeinat….

No, coffee is always 100% natural and does not contain any additives. Coffee is simply the seed of the coffee plant (the coffee bean), which is ground and roasted. Decaffeinated or caffeine-free coffee is pure coffee, from which the caffeine is removed. Coffee remains fresh thanks to vacuum packaging and therefore needs no preservatives. As soon as coffee contains additives, it has to be declared on the packaging.Below is were you can go to read more...Good Luck!
