NO it's not too late to become a vegetarian.

It's never too late to become a vegetarian. And even if you don't stick it out, you will learn to include more fruits and veggies in your diet, which will be a lot healthier. If all you ever eat is meat, you must be very unhealthy. Replacing even some of that meat with a salad or some fresh fruit would probably help you lose weight.

Dont give up meat all together just only eat lean meat ? You need meat to loose weight because it provides you with good protein and iron which will make you strong. you dont want to become too weak when dieting because when you stop your diet you will balloon up and put all weight back on. x

My sister is 24 and she just turned vegan after reading a few books on animal slaughter so I don't think 18 is too late to be a vegetarian. If you're doing it to lose weight it would help because you would be cutting out a lot of sugar filled full of fat and calories junk, you just need to watch what you eat. Be careful that you don't eat unhealthy foods and exercise and you will lose weight.

The vegetarian diet is great for weight loss. If your going to become vegetarian you need to do research, and plan a diet that is high in protein, calcium, vitamins and minerals. Soy products, legumes, peanut or almond butter and dark greens are good sources of protein. I love animals too but I still eat fish and the occasional piece of chicken. Of course I'm not a vegetarian, I'm just a person who gave up red meat 30 years ago. I suggest you start slowly, decrease the meat you eat and add lots of vegetables. This is going to upset your stomach in the beginning. Good Luck! K

It is never too late to become a vegetarian! If you read the book The China Study you will see that eating a plant based, vegan diet is what is the healthiest way to eat. This book has studies that were done over a 35 year period documenting the link between animal protein (in meat, dairy and eggs) and cancer, heart disease, diabetes and many other health problems. The less people eat of animal protein and fat the healthier they are. They guy who wrote that book has a great website with lots of info at A great website to go to is www.plantbasednutrition.org. Pure plant based vegan eating is healthy and you don't need to worry about protein like so many people think. Here is a link about the myths about protein http://www.theveggiegal.com/blog/?p=2255You can get plenty of protein from healthy foods such as bean, nuts, seeds, leafy greens and more. All plants have protein in them it is in the exact right amount that nature intended and your body knows just what to do with it and it does not have added fat or cholesterol! I posted 30 days of what I eat (not always perfectly healthy but perfectly tasty!!) on my blog as well http://www.theveggiegal.com/blog/?cat=5 This will show you that you will not starve or miss meat either. Here are some great recipes that you might love that are healthy and vegan. My daughter who will be 16 in a month is a vegan and is completely healthy and looks amazing and is in perfect shape. You need to feed your body good food while you are young to avoid disease in the future and eating this way will keep you young, healthy and vibrant into your 100's!Fruity Smoothie http://www.theveggiegal.com/blog/?p=315Oatmeal Waffles http://www.theveggiegal.com/blog/?p=1007Twice Baked Potatoes http://www.theveggiegal.com/blog/?p=1165NOT Tuna Salad Sandwich http://www.theveggiegal.com/blog/?p=341Chili Mac http://www.theveggiegal.com/blog/?p=1218Super Sourdough Sandwich http://www.theveggiegal.com/blog/?p=603Almond Maple Bananas http://www.theveggiegal.com/blog/?p=1306Good luck to you and keep fighting for your health and don't worry what others say as long as you eat right your body will thank youKimThe Veggie Gal

Of course not! My mother has started giving up meat now, she eats it very rarely (when she's cooking for my grandfather) and she's 52. It's never too late, certainly not at 18!You might want to consider replacing meat in your normal meals with fake meats, e.g. Quorn, Morningstar, Boca, Linda McCartney, Redwoods.. etc. that might make the transition easier. Try out some vegetarian recipes a few times a week, gradually phasing out meat from your diet.It may help to be clear of the reason you have chosen to give up meat - check out videos like Meet Your Meat (on YouTube), Earthlings.. etc.You might lose weight on a vegetarian diet, you might not. It all depends on your diet. Vegetarian diets are typically lower in fat and cholesterol - but if you eat loads of cheese with every meal, for example, that's not going to make you healthier!

Its never too late for anything especially making a healthy choice to become a vegetarian. If you like the taste of meat try quorn as a go between until you get use to not eating flesh. You can get veggie bacon, burgers, chicken, sausage etc and the so called cheat meats are very tasty and healthy and even meat eaters eat them,my husband eats meat but will often choose a meat alternative because they are nicer and dont ooze with blood and fat.Get onto the vegetarian and vegan web site for all the information you need.

If you want to become a veggie or a vegan (I am vegan) then you need to find your weak point. If yours is "meat" then you need to find a good replacement for it. I love vegan meat but the trick is to find the one(s) that you like. If you are in the UK then Holland and Barratt do good fishless fingers and scampi bites. Fry's vegetarian sausages are also really nice (not the hot dog type). I get my vegan chicken online and it is the best meat replacement I have ever tried.

Hi. It's never too late to be a vegetarian. You can eat fake meats to help fix any meat cravings like Quorn, Linda McCartney fake meats, or if you live in the USA, Morning Star and Amy's Kitchen fake meats. Fake meats are high in protein and low in fat. Dairy products, eggs (preferably free range), hummus (which is made from chick peas), beans and lentils are also other good vegetarian sources of protein. Vegetarian diets can help you lose weight but not if you eat cheese and chocolate all the time. If you still choose to eat dairy, eat low-fat dairy products. Hummus is low in fat, so you could dip raw carrots in hummus (carrots contain Vitamin A and help you see in the dark). If you don't like raw carrots, dip celery in hummus. Celery is low in fat and is very good for you. Hope this helped.
