Is there a stereotype about how vegetarians look?

People often ask me if I'm a vegetarian, without seeing what I eat or hearing me talk about food.

There is a difference between a stereotype and a misconception. Stereotypes are based on fact and misconceptions are based on false information. The STEREOTYPE is that vegetarians are skinny. The MISCONCEPTION is that vegetarians look pale and malnourished.

other than having perfect skin and being svelt and not fat/greasy i dont know of any sterotypes.VEGANS might have dreadlochs even tho its not 1995 anymore. female vegans might wear ugly shoes and not shave their pits and have a lot of cats. but for vegetarians.. nope not really.

vegans don't eat fish first of all soooo yeah that wouldn't be right but anyways i think theres stereotypes about everything im a vegetarian and a cheerleader and an honor student and i used to play guitar and skateboard i'm a natural blonde and i love to read and am an advocate for animal rights and a member of peta i say all of this because i contradict every stereotype you can try to throw at me seriously way too many to mention. so idk why you first asked this question but i say who cares what ppl say about you no matter under what circumstance be you and be happy with that. as for vegetarians being skinny i think that's bull because a lot of ppl are skinny but actually theres quite a few ppl i know that are veg. and aren't really thin because truthfully you end up eating a lot of carbs (well not everybody does) to make up for what you lack in your diet and besides that a lot of times your body shape isn't determined based on whether you eat meat or not(though overeating of meat is like one of the top contenders for obesity) but based on heredity, habits and moods, and how you were raised. hope this helps and dont let what anybody says determine anything about who you are break barriers be an individual

I know LOTS of vegans/ vegetarians. EVERY one of them is either too skinny or they are pudgy. None have any muscle tone and their skin is always kind of gray and pasty looking. Animal protein is necessary for human health.

i think just that they are skinny. i would say there is more of a stereotype about vegans, that they are scrawny, weak, thin, and extremely malnourished.

In most western cultures vegans are often stereotypes as thin, weak and malnourished; however to the rest of the world (and proper BMI tables) we would be considered normal...

The average one generally has less marks on their skin, skinnier, and are a bit girlier. Soy contains estrogen, and too much can turn a guy girlish. They like to talk about their pets. If your a smart vegetarian/vegan you will..-Avoid eating lots of grain-Take vitamin supplements-Get all nutrition needed for the day.-Be OCD about what you eat. They will be seen eating very awkward stuff.

haha there are lots of people who think if your skinny and wear a hemp bracelet then your vegan/vegetarian, but these people are soooooo dumb. the idiots who say animal proteins are "essential" probably havent looked into it at all. the famous all Olympian sprinter Carl lewis was a vegan, and he certainly was not scrawny. and if you saw zombieland, (great movie) the actor playing the big badass, talahassy, was also a vegan, and hes ripped! so ya there is a stereotype but its often applied to the wrong people and the real vegans/vegetarians eat so healthily that no one can tell

Usually just skinny, pale, bohemian style in dress. Of course none of that's true but people are stupid.

A lot of the time people think that vegetarians are rather thin, and sometimes style has something to do with it. If you wear a lot of earth tones or look like a "hippie" then that might be why. Even before I was a vegetarian people asked me if I was
