Dude,Eat according to the climatic conditions that are prevalent in your area, ex.,In hot areas, avoid anything that generates extra heat, viz, eggs, oils.In cold areas, you can have your fill of eggs and spicy food.note: Meat(simple chicken/ lamb/ goat) never harmed anyone if taken in moderation and with no excess oils/ spices.

Vegetarian...Benefits: It is good in a way that you eat a lot of veggies that many people don't... And veggies are good for your health... Disadvantage:But many people think being a vegetarian is easy to lose weight and be healthy, instead they tend to eat more because veggies does not make you full... That is not good for health and weight...Non-vegetarian...Benefits: It is good because you get enough of everything that meat contains and veggies don't... If you are a body-builder, better stay as a non-vegetarian... Tip~you have to control the amount you eat...Disadvantage: Many people eat meat and veggies but still eat a lot of rice... Just be careful not to eat too much of red meat as it contains high-cholosterol...

vegetarian is good for health. veggies/fruits have little saturated fat, but meat like chicken, beef and such have saturated fat (which is bad)of course 'healthier' meat like lean meat has less fats so it is rather healthy too. and the cooking method also plays an important role. if you fry veggies, of course it isn't good for health! well, comparing those two, vegetarian is better for health but some meat or poultry won't hurt that much too (:

Vegetarianism is considered a healthy, viable diet. The American Dietetic Association and the Dietitians of Canada have found a properly planned vegetarian diet to satisfy the nutritional needs for all stages of life, and large-scale studies have shown that "Mortality from ischemic heart disease was 24% lower in vegetarians than in nonvegetarians". Necessary nutrients, proteins, and amino acids for the body's sustenance can be found in vegetables, grains, nuts, soymilk, eggs and dairy.Vegetarian diets can aid in keeping body weight under control and substantially reduce risks of heart disease and osteoporosis. Non-lean red meat, in particular, has been found to be directly associated with dramatically increased risk of cancers of the esophagus, liver, colon, and the lungs. Other studies, in contrast, have shown no significant differences between vegetarians and nonvegetarians in mortality from cerebrovascular disease, stomach cancer, colorectal cancer, breast cancer, or prostate cancer, although the sample of vegetarians was small and included ex-smokers who had switched their diet within the last five years. The American Dietetic Association and Dietitians of Canada have stated: "Vegetarian diets offer a number of nutritional benefits, including lower levels of saturated fat, cholesterol, and animal protein as well as higher levels of carbohydrates, fibre, magnesium, potassium, folate, and antioxidants such as vitamins C and E and phytochemicals."Vegetarians tend to have lower body mass index, lower levels of cholesterol, lower blood pressure, and less incidence of heart disease, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, renal disease, osteoporosis, dementias such as Alzheimer’s Disease and other disorders. In addition to the above, the following are the other benefits of a vegetarian diet -1) Longevity - Several studies have concluded that vegetarians or non-vegetarians, who eat less amount of meat have lower mortality ratio than regular meat eaters...the bottom line is that vegetarians live longer...2) Nutrition - Vegetarian foods completely cater to the nutritional requirements of an individual with the added advantage of not having to kill any animal. 3) Food Safety - Vegetarianism prevents fatal diseases like E-coli infection, salmonella, bird flu, bovine immunodeficiency virus, etc which occur in animals & birds and could be transmitted to humans when they are eaten...4) Physiology - Humans are more anatomically similar to herbivores, with long intestinal tracts and blunt teeth, unlike omnivores and carnivores.5) Environmental concerns - Environmental vegetarianism is based on the concern that the production of meat and animal products for mass consumption, especially through factory farming, is environmentally unsustainable. According to a 2006 United Nations initiative, the livestock industry is one of the largest contributors to environmental degradation worldwide, and modern practices of raising animals for food contributes on a "massive scale" to air and water pollution, land degradation, climate change, and loss of biodiversity. In addition, animal agriculture is a large source of greenhouse gases and is responsible for 18 percent of the world's greenhouse gas.According to the theory of trophic dynamics, it requires 10 times as many crops to feed animals being bred for meat production as it would to feed the same number of people on a vegetarian diet. Currently, 70 percent of all the wheat, corn, and other grain produced is fed to farmed animals.[170] This has led many proponents of vegetarianism to believe that it is ecologically irresponsible to consume meat.6) Psychological - The "Appeal to nature" logical fallacy invites one to believe that something is good or right because it is natural.A metaphor has been presented by Douglas Dunn: that if one gives a young child an apple and a live chicken, the child would instinctively play with the chicken and eat the apple, whereas if a cat were presented with the same choices, its natural impulse would be the opposite. In addition to the above points, you need to understand that when you eat an animal, you are in reality eating the "fear" of the animal...A cow or a goat which is being led to the slaughter realises that it will be killed shortly and the sheer terror of the experience leads to the generation of certain toxins & hormones, which are ingested by humans along with the meat...This results in various ailments in people who frequently consume meat such as hormone disorders, heart diseases etc...So now it is for you to decide whether vegetarianism is more beneficial for health...

Of course we all need to make our own decisions and some people chose to be vegan because of the welfare of animals and others because of their own health and then some chose a combination of both. The real issue in everything is your health. Of course we should never ever harm animals and people who chose to eat free range dairy and eggs are making a better choice than not doing so but their health is still going to suffer. We have 6 in our family and my husband and 18 yr old son are both meat eaters. My 15 yr old daughter, 5 yr old daughter and 2 year old son are all vegan. My husband and son are trying to switch over because they know it is healthier but still enjoy meat once a week or so.If you read The China Study you will see that his more than 35 years of research shows that protein and fat from any animal source (meat, dairy and eggs) results in much higher levels of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and many many more disease. Their research even shows that vegan who eat a vegan junk food diet still have 40% less chance of getting cancer than laco ovo vegetarians.Children who start out eating a vegan diet have even less of a chance of developing chornic diseases. If you lead by example your kids will eventually follow. Also if there are not animal products in the house for them to chose from they will chose food you want them to eat.My daughter who is almost 16 became a vegan just over a year ago after seeing my success at doing it a year prior to her. She is very happy to eat this way and knows that she is helping animals and reducing her risk of disease anywhere between 40-95%! I suggest you read The China Study and see for your self or watch a couple of videos by the author T. Collin Campbell on Youtube. Those videos should convince anyone who is considering a healthier lifestyle.Watch some of the videos on some of these websites on the health benefits of becoming a vegan www.drmcdougall.com, http://www.pcrm.org/,http://www.tcolincampbell.org/,Here are some of our family favorite meals that I make.Oatmeal Waffles http://www.theveggiegal.com/blog/?p=1007Lemon Poppy Seed Muffins http://www.theveggiegal.com/blog/?p=946Cheezy Vegetable Lasagna http://www.theveggiegal.com/blog/?p=2952Super Sourdough Sandwich http://www.theveggiegal.com/blog/?p=603Chinese Cabbage Salad http://www.theveggiegal.com/blog/?p=1292Peanut Butter Cups http://www.theveggiegal.com/blog/?p=2121Pink Bean, Quinoa, & Spinach Soup http://www.theveggiegal.com/blog/?p=3116Cheesy Nachos http://www.theveggiegal.com/blog/?p=2668Taco Salad http://www.theveggiegal.com/blog/?p=1586Good luck in your decisionKim(The Veggie Gal)

A mix of both vegetables and non-veg foods (fish, eggs, lean meat, pork) is good for health when properly cooked (not fried). anything that is fried too much is bad if it is veg or non-veg. Iron found in non-veg is the best. I prefer a diet containing a mix of both. Too much of anything is bad for health. Human beings are omnivorous in nature. We are neither carnivorous nor herbivorous.
