Vegetarian Poll: What would you do?

I was asked this question in RE...If a man had both a chicken burger, and a live chicken, and said to you, as a vegetarian, eat this chicken burger or I will kill the chicken, would you eat it, even though it goes against everything you believe in..? I myself said that I would definately eat it without hesitation, even though I would hate myself for it, because the whole point in my being a vegetarian is to save the lives of the animals, and by allowing a man to kill an animal when I had a way to stop it seems stupid. What would you do...?

I would not do it... the chicken is probably already destined for death.

If I somehow ended up in this situation I would call the police for harassment and/or animal abuse. I'm pretty sure you can't just go around killing chickens in public.

I would kick the man in the balls, take the chicken and run. I may or may not call the police depending on if I made him cry and a soprano:)

tecnically the chicken in the chicken burger is already dead and there is nothing you can do about it, you cant bring it back to life. But If you ate the chicken burger you would be saving the chickens life (the one that is alive).so in a way you would be a veggie hero

I wouldn't eat the chicken sandwich. I'd take that knife from that guy and stab his eyes out.

I think someone is heading down a slippery slope when they begin to give into threats. Where would the threats stop? There is a reason the most countries do not give into the demands of people threatening violence. Those reason would be, the person would probably not stop with the first demand, and it encourages others to do the same. I would not eat the chicken burger. I would feel saddened that someone would choose to kill a living creature, but it is their doing, not mine. People that use threats to get what they want rarely stop with the first one. By not giving into the demands, the person would move on. After the first chicken, I would not have to worry about him/her coming back with a higher demand, over and over again.

I am not a vegetarian but I can tell you this.....Whether you ate the chicken sandwich or not, the other chicken will still be killed. How else will he make the next chicken sandwich?

No, I wouldn't eat it. I'm not a vegetarian on the principle that killing animals is bad. I just don't like meat. I wouldn't make myself eat something which I find disgusting, just because some lunatic is harassing me. If he goes ahead and kills that chicken, well, HE decided to kill it; I didn't make him kill it.

Grow up. Grow a pair. Take his generosity kindly and thanking him, do what you naturally want to do - and eat them both (so long as they were both free ranged and organically fed - soya-free - grains, greens and insects and the hens had been/will get humanely slaughtered). If the above consideration had not been met to my standards and approval then I would lament the loss of a fine opportunity of acquiring some obviously fresh and (by the sound of it) free food, nom, nom, nom.

Despite feeling horrible about it later, I'd eat it immediately, because the chicken in the burger was already slaughtered, but if I didn't, another chicken would die for no reason.

I would eat the chicken sandwich, as it contains nutritional value and it would make no sense to kill an animal for no other reason than my refusal to eat a food.

I would buy the live chicken off of him and keep her as a pet. I would name her could be Themis or Hestia.
