You can try "crèpes" for exemple. They are large thin pancakes, that can be filled with sweet things (jam ,chocolate, fruits) or salty ingredients. Vegetables can also be incorporated to the dough before the baking. The "gratin dauphinois" ("grah-tuh dough-thin-woah") is composed or sliced potatoes, milk or cream, and occasionally mushrooms and bacon, covered by melted cheese. The "foie gras" ("fohah-grah") -literally fat liver is ,as the name indicates, the liver of a goose that has been fattened. Although it can seem repulsive, it is actually a very expensive delicacy eaten around Christmas and at New Years. You have to give it a try. It is eaten on a piece or grilled bread. The "bouillabesse" (boo-yah-bayss) is a dish that is made in Marseille originally (South-West). It is a massive soup made exclusively from varied fishes. The "coq au vin" (cock-oh-vuh) is a rooster that is specially cooked and marinated. Luxury dish again. The pot-au-feu is a soup made of boiled veggies and specific filandrous meat all soaking in boiled water and the meat juice. One can add a cut bone for taste. The "tarte tatin" is a pie, turned upside down! The fruits (apple is the traditional one used) are underneath the actual baked dough. And so on... good luck!
