Offer an array of easy snacks, like chips and dip, cheese and crackers and popcorn. Fruit platters and vegetable platters add a nice healthy touch.Step 2Hire a DJ with karaoke to play at the party. If that isn't financially possible, place a large stereo off to the side and make one person responsible for changing the music. Play only upbeat music, preferably loudly.Step 3Plan age-appropriate activities for your teen birthday party. Include dancing, games such as Pictionary, charades and video game tournaments. If the weather is warm, set up a volleyball net and horseshoes.Step 4Prepare a lunch or dinner meal of easy-to-eat "finger foods." Teens are always on the go and too busy chitchatting at parties to have a formal sit-down meal. Pizza, hamburgers and hot dogs or tacos are all teen favorites.Step 5Serve cake and ice cream about two hours after the beginning of the party. Set aside time for your teen to open her gifts in front of all the guests.

Hey, I just had my 17th in June (winter here in Australia). This is what we got up to:I had a sleepover at my place (a sleepover minus the sleep haha!), everyone brought along a plate of food to share and their favourite CDs and DVDs. As stereotypical as it all sounds, we all actually had a lot of fun. And, great photos :DWe also all created hypothetical scenarios on some cards. Then we put them all together, mixed them around a bit, and then pulled one out, read it out and all discussed it.eg: 'Be married but live in the 60’s or be single and live in the 1900’s?'*going around the circle*person one: definitely in the 60’s I can relate more...person two: no no! I’ve always wanted to secretly travel back in time, going to the 1900’s would be amazing! You would not believe that amount of discussion that was created! We learnt so much about each other through the most bizarre questions.ORPerhaps a picnic? This is relatively inexpensive, bring along a picnic basket, some home made cupcakes etc and you can all gossip and have fun at a park.Or, clear out your garage, get out your stereo , ask your friends to bring along their favourite CD's. Like the picnic, your only paying for food= cheap.House parties are the best parties, perhaps make it themed, if your girly, make the theme 'you all have to wear pink' or something like that. We had a donut eating competition, dance off (two teams- it sounds lame but everyone was uncontrollably laughing at some of the moves we all came up with) and balloon voleyball. For my friends last party, the theme was "dress as something that shares the first letter of your name".For example, my names lily and I went as a lion haha.Hope it all works out for you!

If you can afford it, then the spa or the indoor horseback riding place sound good - it's your 18th birthday so you should do something memorable and unusual instead of just going to the movies. Marine world sounds cool too though. You could go ice-skating - it would suit the time of year - or paintballing or all go out to your favourite restaurant for dinner. If you can't afford the spa, then maybe you could compromise by getting a manicure together and then going out to eat. :]

Check out the below referenced website. It's got some great ideas for parties. A sleep over is always alot of fun & doesn't have to cost much $$$. Some of themes are:(see website below for details of how to plan & execute these theme parties)1) Spa Sleepover Party--facials for everyone...it feels wonderful 2) Hollywood sleepover party--you have to guess who you are based upon the answers people gave you when you asked questions as the photo of who you are supposed to be is hanging on your back. This gets everyone talking with one another & trying to use their minds to figure things out. It's great to get everyone involved & talkingn with one anohter.3) Check out the website below as there are many other great ideas.Hope you & your daughter have a great birthday celebration!Roz
