Where can you buy vegetarian ground beef?

I'm a vegetarian and I was thinking about making chili or tacos or something, and I was wondering where you can buy vegetarian ground beef. I know there is morningstar ground beef, but I can't find it anywhere. If it matters, I live in Virginia Beach.

I usually make tacos or chili with BEANS. It's cheaper, healthier, and tastes better. Also, I have seen a recipe that added bulgur to chili for a ground beef texture. I like to make burritos with veg. refried beans, rice, fresh diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, and guacamole.

I'm not 100% sure about in Virgina Beach but every grocery store I go to (Ralph's Sater Bros. Albertsons) has Morning Star products and most carry this company called Yves, They are usually in the produce section by the tofu and soy dogs. They are awesome vegan fake meats. They have deli slices and ground beef. Try calling you local stores and asking if they can help you locate those items. Vegetariansm is becoming really popular and every store wants to cater to specific dietary needs right now. If none of the generic stores carry them, see if you have any Trader Joe's, Henry's or Wholefoods. If nothing else I think you can order them online or make your own, Here's a recipe: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article…Good luck :)

Boca or Gimme Lean tubes by Lightlife. Quorn makes a ground beef imitation that is probably the best there is and is soy free.

They have Morning Star meal starter fake "beef" crumbles in Wal-Mart. I often buy some vegetarian taco seasoning, some taco shells etc. and add it to my tacos. They're delicious! You can find a whole bunch of vegetarian taco recipes on RecipeZaar.com, by the way. Enjoy!

The morningstar and boca "beef" crumbles are both pretty good. If you are making tacos I have used cooked rice with some taco seasoning before when I didn't have the "beef." It isn't the best but it is okay.

there is no such thing as "vegetarian beef." That is like saying "I am a carnivorous vegetarian." That is probably why you can't find it.

I did a search for you and I couldn't find a store within 20 miles of Virginia Beach that sells the Morningstar grillers crumbles :( That's a bummer, because they're really good. You could try substituting meat with black beans.

You will definitely find them if you have a local specialty store like Whole Foods, Wegmans, Trader Joe's, and BJ's. They all sell organic food products and lots of vegetarian items too. Maybe if you go to the websites of these stores, you can look for local stores that are near you.
