Why did my apple juice get carbonated?

So I have a carton of apple juice. And I've had it for a week or two now, and we've drank about 3/4 of it. It is being refrigerated. I just drank some and it taste like its been carbonated. It's not expired or anything. So why is this happening? Does it happen to all apple juice?

if it wasn't originally carbonated, then it's from fermentation.

I have an 18 month old and we give him juice in his "sippys" all the time. I have come to find that any type of juice we put in there gets carbonated after the first day.. of course we dont let him drink it because I have also heard a wifes tale that he could most likely get drunk off of it as well.

the sugar is in the water and the apple is on bottom, vinegar and oil

It is fermenting i think. I've had fruit do that but not apple juice before. Like canned pears and peaches start to taste carbonated after awhile. I think it would happen if you had old enough apple juice but it isnt common to have week old juice do that.
